Seven years ago I accidentally rode, or rather fell, down a mtb downhill trail in my local woods. The few minutes that it took to reach the bottom completely redefined who I am today. Within two weeks I had a bike with some suspension, proper tyres and most importantly brakes: My life had changed forever.

I now work as an outdoor instructor and raft guide in North Wales, taking time out to ride and paddle all over the world. I have now been bitten by the climbing bug after a long love/hate/fall/repeat relationship and am currently working toward my MIA. Having been bitten by the climbing bug after a long love hate fall relationship I am currently working towards my MIA, Its a great excuse to go climbing!

I have a climbing/biking/training trip planned for November this year somewhere in Southern Europe, however my main goal is working towards my own self-styled North Wales ‘Triple Crown Challenge’: A morning lap on the Fairy Glen (a famous grade 5 test piece of water in North Wales) followed by a cycle from Betws-Y-Coed (taking me to the bottom of Clogwyn dur Arddu), culminating in a climb up the the ‘Great Wall E4 6a’ and a ride down Rhyd Duu. These are feats I would never have imagined possible 7 [or is it 7] (technically 6 but 7 will make more sense to readers) years ago let alone attempting them all in one day.

The stars may need to be aligned to achieve my challenge but it will all be worth it when I’m sipping a cool beer and munching on a pizza in the Hangin’ Pizzeria back in Betws Y Coed.
